Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026.
Stamp Duty Calculator ("we", "us", "our") operates this website and the Stamp Duty calculator, guides, and reference tools available on it (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We are a no-registration tool, so we collect very little personal information. The categories we do handle are:
Calculator inputs. Property price, buyer type, property type, region, and currency selection are entered into the Stamp Duty calculator. These values are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. They are not transmitted to, or stored on, any Stamp Duty Calculator server, and we have no record of the figures you calculate.
Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, solely so that we can respond to your enquiry.
Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics infrastructure may automatically log standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, pages visited, and timestamps. This information is used in aggregate to understand site performance and is not used to identify you personally.
Cookies and local storage. We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage values (for example, to remember your cookie-consent choice or your preferred colour theme). See our Cookie Policy for full details.
2. How We Use Information
Any information we do collect is used only to:
— respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form;
— operate, maintain, and improve the reliability and performance of the Service;
— understand aggregate usage patterns (for example, which calculators or guides are most used) so we can prioritise improvements;
— detect, investigate, and prevent misuse, fraud, or security incidents affecting the Service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties, and we do not use your calculator inputs for advertising or profiling purposes.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a request you make (for example, responding to a contact enquiry), our legitimate interests in operating and securing a functioning website, and, where required, your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies).
4. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell personal data. We may share limited technical data with service providers who help us run the Service, including:
— Hosting providers, who store the site's files and serve pages to your browser;
— Font delivery services (Google Fonts), which may log requests for font files, typically including IP address and browser information;
— Analytics providers, if enabled, which help us understand aggregate, anonymised traffic patterns.
These providers are only permitted to process data on our behalf and for the purposes described here. We do not authorise them to use your information for their own independent marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention
Calculator inputs are never retained because they never leave your browser. Contact form submissions are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your enquiry and for a limited period afterwards for record-keeping, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Aggregate technical/analytics logs are typically retained for a limited rolling period before being deleted or anonymised.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to any systems that do store data, and routine software updates — to protect information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to:
— request access to the personal data we hold about you;
— request correction of inaccurate data;
— request deletion of your data;
— object to, or request restriction of, certain processing;
— request a portable copy of data you provided to us; and
— withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
8. International Users
The Service is accessible globally, and figures can be displayed in several tier-1 country currencies for convenience. If you access the Service from outside the United Kingdom, your information may be processed in the UK or in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for a general adult audience interested in property transactions and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal or operational reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle information, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
